Healing Circles Fundamentals

There are four parts to this course. Within each part, there are three activities (watching, reading, and reviewing) to complete on your own before putting what you’ve learned into practice during a two-hour Zoom session with your fellow trainees.

Objectives:

  • Understand basic circle structure: Gain a clear understanding of the key roles, parts, and essential agreements that guide the process.
  • Experience healing circles: Actively participate in healing circles facilitated by experienced hosts and gain first-hand insight into the dynamics of the practice.
  • Engage in peer-led circles: Participate in healing circles that are led by fellow trainees and experience mutual support through collaborative learning.
  • Practice hosting a circle: Practice applying what you learned by hosting a circle.

Although the videos, downloadable materials, and blog posts are important, your participation in live Zoom sessions is irreplaceable. Please make preparing for and participating in these sessions a priority.

Week by week, you’ll acquire tools and gain the confidence to hold space, provide social connection, facilitate healing, and build community.

Healing Circles Practicum

The Healing Circles Practicum is a six-partcourse designed to provide hands-on experience as a host and guardian within a safe and supportive environment. Each session is divided into two key components: guided discussion, where we review principles of practice, address challenges that arise in circles, and answer your questions; and practical application, where you and your fellow participants take turns facilitating circles.

The members of your cohort are counting on you, so please commit to the entire six-part series. Full participation facilitates group cohesion and maximizes individual development.

Objectives:

  • Gain experience: Actively practice the roles of host and guardian within a safe and supportive environment.
  • Enhance skills: Learn and apply the core agreements and circle fundamentals while exploring techniques for navigating challenges that may arise during healing circles.
  • Build self-awareness: Develop a deeper understanding of your role within the circle process while achieving personal growth and emotional awareness.
  • Address questions: Explore common and unique scenarios that hosts and guardians sometimes encounter, with ample time dedicated to answering your questions.
  • Receive feedback and support: Benefit from constructive feedback, reflective discussions, and mentorship aimed at refining your facilitation techniques.

By the end of the practicum, you’ll strengthen your ability to hold healing circles and know how to address complex issues. You’ll also have cultivated a supportive community of fellow practitioners with whom you can continue your journey of growth and connection.
